About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work on the Firmware OTA (FOTA) backend platform for campaign execution and delivery of Firmware Over The Air updates to GM vehicles
  • Own end-to-end responsibility for critical microservices supporting OTA workflows, package building, and vehicle interactions
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and support business features across environments using CI/CD pipelines
  • Build a highly integrated and reliable OTA backend platform
  • Provide and continuously manage nonfunctional requirements including code quality, coverage, performance, scalability, and security
  • Gather stakeholder requirements and deliver technical solutions for business problems
  • Analyze the technical platform and propose enhancements
  • Create technical designs covering database schemas, flow sequences, interfaces, and APIs
  • Break business features into detailed stories and provide realistic estimates
  • Document designs for implementation
  • Lead peer reviews and pull requests and ensure technical standards are met
  • Drive team development processes and technical standards
  • Collaborate with development, product management, architecture, stakeholders, and the user community

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications, Applied Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field of study
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer or related role
  • Five (5) years of experience with software development in complex platforms, including a cloud-native environment
  • Experience developing 12-factor microservices using Continuous Integration, Build, and Delivery with Spring and Spring Boot
  • Experience with microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architecture, and performance optimization techniques
  • Experience developing Java and Spring Boot-based components
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, REST, Kafka, Pulsar, JMS, Oracle, Postgres, and Akka Framework
  • Experience debugging, triaging, and analyzing production issues using ELK stack and Prometheus
  • Experience with cloud computing concepts and cloud platforms including Cloud Foundry, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
  • Must be able to report to the local office
