About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build the Core OS engineering team from the ground up
  • Define the team charter and hire founding engineers
  • Set the architecture and establish Core OS interfaces with silicon, guest OS, and vehicle program teams
  • Deliver the first production milestones for the Core OS layer
  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering organization of senior engineers and engineering leaders
  • Own the roadmap and delivery of hypervisor and virtualization, virtual machine lifecycle and resource partitioning, inter-VM communication, and boot and secure-boot chain
  • Deliver the safety-relevant compute platform foundation, including freedom from interference, health monitoring, fault detection, and recovery
  • Establish on-vehicle container and workload management, including runtime isolation, lifecycle management, resource governance, and updateability
  • Enable embedded Linux, Android, and QNX on shared compute with consistent platform services, interfaces, and tooling
  • Set and drive platform KPIs for compute efficiency, responsiveness, startup and boot time, memory footprint, scalability, and reliability
  • Drive collaboration with BSP and silicon enablement, application platform, cybersecurity, functional safety, and vehicle program teams
  • Build vendor and ecosystem partnerships with silicon, RTOS, and hypervisor suppliers
  • Engage with open-source and industry communities
  • Track progress against vehicle milestones, manage risk, and partner with program management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of professional experience building embedded or systems software
  • Strong foundation in operating system internals, virtualization, or real-time systems
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including leading senior engineers and managers
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • Demonstrated success delivering production-grade OS or platform software on modern SoC-based or embedded systems
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in ambiguous, early-stage environments
  • Depth in at least one of: type-1 hypervisors and virtualization, real-time operating systems, or embedded Linux deployed at scale
  • Proven ability to drive large-scale software programs to completion, including milestone planning, risk management, and cross-team coordination
  • Strong technical credibility and ability to set vision, influence architecture, and drive execution across multiple teams
  • Excellence in cross-functional leadership, stakeholder management, and executive communication
  • Proficiency with Git/GitHub, CI/CD, automated testing including bench and HIL, boot and performance KPI instrumentation, and large-scale release processes
  • Preferred: 12+ years of professional experience building embedded or systems software
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with hypervisor technologies, virtio-based device virtualization, device passthrough, and resource partitioning
  • Preferred: Experience delivering software to ISO 26262 functional safety requirements up to ASIL-D and ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity requirements
  • Preferred: Depth in secure boot, trusted execution environments, and platform integrity on modern automotive SoCs
  • Preferred: Experience with container runtimes and orchestration in resource-constrained or embedded environments
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Yocto Linux, Android (AOSP/Android Automotive), and QNX SDP
  • Preferred: Experience with Adaptive AUTOSAR, SOAFEE, OTA, and continuous update architectures
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with Qualcomm Automotive SoCs and collaboration with silicon vendors
