About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead multiple engineering teams across modern platforms, APIs, integrations, and legacy systems
Turn business strategy into roadmaps and KPIs, then deliver them
Partner with product, business, architecture, operations, and delivery leaders to translate business needs into scalable engineering solutions
Set technical direction and make architecture decisions for quality, security, and reliability
Write and review code, debug complex problems, prototype, and conduct technical spikes and proofs of concept
Drive modernization of legacy applications through decomposition, platform evolution, integration simplification, and technical-debt reduction
Roll out AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Copilot, and Cursor across the software development lifecycle
Build MCP servers, custom agents, and agent-driven CI/CD for pull-request review, test generation, and large-scale migrations
Measure outcomes using DORA metrics, cycle time, and change-failure rate, and report results to leadership
Hire, coach, and develop engineers and tech leads
Create a culture of accountability, technical excellence, continuous learning, and customer-focused delivery
Lead incident response and drive root causes to durable production fixes

Requirements

What you’ll need

BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
10+ years of software engineering and people leadership experience, including leading multiple teams
Current, hands-on coding proficiency in Java or C++, plus experience with front-end frameworks such as Angular or React
1+ year of substantial hands-on use of AI coding agents in production work
Experience with distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architecture, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Experience modernizing legacy systems while supporting business-critical delivery
Experience establishing and improving engineering standards, development lifecycle practices, and delivery discipline
Ability to lead across ambiguity, influence senior stakeholders, and align technical decisions with business outcomes
Strong coaching and mentoring capability, with a track record of raising the technical effectiveness of engineers and managers
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to both engineering and business audiences
Preferred: 12+ years of software engineering experience and 7+ years in engineering leadership
Preferred: Experience leading org-wide adoption of agentic development, with measured gains
Preferred: Experience building with LLM APIs, MCP, retrieval, and evaluation harnesses
Preferred: Experience with mainframe-connected or deeply integrated enterprise systems
Preferred: Familiarity with secure-by-design practices for AI-generated code and automotive standards (ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434)
Preferred: Experience leading globally distributed teams
Preferred: Experience influencing executives in a complex, matrixed organization
