About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute deliverables supporting the logistics organization's business objectives
- Negotiate and issue contracts for GM returnable container requirements
- Support key areas within the Logistics and/or Containers organization across customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives
- Communicate within the function, across other functions, and with external affiliates and regulatory agencies
- Support relationship management with suppliers and service providers
- Influence organizational acceptance of new concepts, practices and approaches
- Identify problems and update or modify complex work methods without defined procedures
- Promote GM's values and make customer-focused decisions
- Remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues or complaints
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years relevant work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics or product development; internship or co-op experience will not be considered
- Competency using automated tools; ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions
- Ability to communicate relevant information effectively and timely to appropriate audiences
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive, cooperative working relationships
- Collaborative negotiation skills
- Analytical thinking and ability to evaluate factors, solutions and impacts
- Ability to take charge, seize opportunities and deliver on time
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize by critical needs
- SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
- Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Finance or a related field preferred
