About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop software to increase the capabilities, fidelity, observability, and scale of the HIL platform and integration services
- Build and extend services and tools for AV teams to configure, run, and debug tests on HIL benches
- Deliver reliable software through requirements generation, continuous integration, automated testing, issue tracking, and code reviews
- Collaborate with multiple AV teams to understand validation needs and translate them into platform features
- Deliver complex projects through incremental development while maintaining quality and reliability
- Help build software and tooling for large-scale Hardware-in-the-Loop validation of AV perception, planning, control, and AI models
- Work with Embodied AI, Model Deployment, Middleware, OS, Sensor Applications, and Vehicle Integration teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field
- Degree must be completed prior to joining GM
- Degree completion by June 2026 for this early-career/new graduate role
- Strong systems fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, or computer architecture
- Solid coding abilities in Python and/or C++, demonstrated through coursework, internships, or substantial projects
- Understanding of how to design high-performance software components
- Experience developing in a Linux environment
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team, with clear written and verbal communication
- Preferred: Experience optimizing or evaluating complex software systems on dedicated hardware
- Preferred: Exposure to ROS architectures
- Preferred: Experience with low-latency or real-time systems
- Preferred: Prior exposure to autonomous driving, robotics, or real-time simulation domains
- Preferred: Experience with SQL
- Preferred: Familiarity with Bazel, CMake, or similar large build systems
