About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead OS verification efforts for next-generation in-vehicle infotainment platforms
- Ensure software and features meet GM standards for functionality, system quality, security, performance, and architectural compliance
- Define scalable verification and test strategies
- Review business and software requirements
- Design verification plans and create test execution plans
- Create, implement, execute, and optimize automated and manual test cases
- Develop automation scripts using industry-standard tools and coding methodologies
- Execute tests, troubleshoot scripts and test environment issues, triage and log defects, and track progress
- Log, track, and verify resolution of requirements and software defects
- Review test plans written by others and provide feedback
- Define test metrics, produce test and project metrics, and report test status and quality concerns
- Categorize and manage test suites
- Propose testing-process innovations through tools, techniques, and process improvements
- Lead testing activities across features and projects
- Collaborate with architects, system engineers, developers, project/program managers, component developers, external stakeholders, and sustaining/integration teams
- Provide technical leadership and support on test strategy and process improvements
- Assist with resource utilization and identify constraints and bandwidth limitations
- Act as a subject matter expert for component, system, and business-process domains
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of embedded software test experience, with a background in mobile or automotive industries
- 4+ years of experience in platform and embedded testing
- Excellent programming skills in Python or C++
- Experience validating platform and system designs
- Strong experience developing test automation tools and scripting
- Comfortable with manual testing when necessary
- Solid knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies and tools
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, curious, able to deliver on time, quick-learning, and able to work in a fast-paced and flexible work environment
- Knowledge of and experience with Scrum/Agile software development processes
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, coordination, and interpersonal skills
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, and Artifactory
- Willingness and ability to report to Warren, MI at least three times per week
- Ability to travel less than 25% for the role
- Preferred: 10+ years of embedded software test experience with embedded IoT or automotive industry background
- Preferred: Automotive product development or testing experience
- Preferred: Experience with Robot Framework
- Preferred: Experience with vehicle communication network protocols such as CAN, LIN, and SomeIP
