About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and deliver flash-programming requirements and solutions for advanced mechatronic systems across GM vehicle programs
  • Lead programming strategies for development, manufacturing, OTA, and service environments
  • Partner with software, hardware, diagnostics, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and vehicle-integration teams
  • Develop and improve programming tools, diagnostics, scripts, and automated tests
  • Analyze programming issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions
  • Maintain requirements, test coverage, traceability, and technical documentation
  • Establish reusable standards and practices to improve programming quality, efficiency, and scalability
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and roadmap direction for future programming capabilities
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex programming tasks
  • Define and track KPIs for flash-programming quality and efficiency

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Software Development, with a strong focus on embedded systems or automotive applications
  • Strong experience with automotive flash programming, embedded systems, vehicle diagnostics, and software requirements
  • Experience developing or reviewing software, scripts, engineering tools, or test automation
  • Experience across the software or systems development lifecycle and with agile methods
  • Experience using Wireshark or similar tools to analyze PCAP and diagnostic traffic
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership and communication skills
  • Continuous learning and awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Group problem-solving and analytical thinking to resolve complex technical issues
  • Strategic leadership capabilities in defining and executing technical roadmaps
  • No GM immigration-related sponsorship is available; applicants must not require GM sponsorship now or in the future
  • Willingness to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week, or at another frequency set by the manager
