About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary liaison between GM and multiple suppliers for supplier-managed Value-Added Assembly projects supporting GMNA
- Coordinate supplier activities and remove project roadblocks
- Ensure alignment, execution discipline, project timing, and objectives across suppliers, integrators, cross-functional teams, and leadership
- Verify supplier planning, integration, validation, implementation readiness, and productionization
- Provide technical direction and oversight for outside vendor sources
- Support supplier buyoffs and APQP acceptance testing
- Verify Supplier Continuous Process Improvement Team initiatives and readiness
- Support Quality Readiness Reviews
- Provide leadership updates on supplier launch readiness, open issues, and escalation needs
- Analyze engineering budget trade-offs between manual and SMART automation
- Support supplier cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives
- Drive timely closure of Problem Resolution Tracking System items and validate post-SORP readiness
- Support supplier change requests and decision notices
- Provide input for supplier “What-if” studies
- Lead resolution and negotiation strategies between GM and multiple integrators
- Incorporate lessons learned and cost savings initiatives into standards and workflows
- Manage and coach contract engineers’ performance
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of experience in Manufacturing Operations
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience as a Project Lead
- Ability to coordinate resources, provide leadership updates, create and manage critical timelines, report status, and support rapid escalation
- Ability to manage multiple issues in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong technical capability with industrial electrical systems regulations, design and maintenance, automation, and controls systems
- Strong knowledge of automotive assembly applications and operations
- Ability to manage multiple significantly complex projects with a high level of autonomy and accountability
- Initiative to improve output and help others
- Proven project management skills and ability to teach others
- Ability to manage and coach performance of direct reports
- Ability to travel for supplier support and verification as required
- Preferred: thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment related to VAA modules
- GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship; candidates must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be able to report to Warren, MI at least three times per week
- Regular travel required (25–50%)
