About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process with assigned suppliers
  • Review program progress against milestones and identify and mitigate risks to GM and customers
  • Ensure supplier understanding of and compliance with APQP processes, including PPAP, Quality Plans, Control Plans, FMEA, and Run at Rate verification
  • Review manufacturing processes and quality systems to identify risks and prevent issues
  • Provide technical support and lead continuous improvement activities for suppliers
  • Identify opportunities during launch, ongoing production, and implementation of changes
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to GM standards
  • Verify supplier quality and manufacturing processes and on-site implementation of corrective actions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate or lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Execute APQP processes with assigned suppliers to meet or exceed program objectives
  • Conduct program reviews and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ensure the supply base adheres to GM standards and prevents out-of-standard conditions from moving to subsequent processes or sites
  • React to out-of-standard conditions and work cross-functionally to resolve issues promptly
  • Travel to supplier and GM facilities as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum two years in Quality or Engineering or related field
  • Proficient in print reading and interpretation, part measurement, gage design and function
  • Comprehension of geometric design and tolerance (GD&T)
  • Comprehension of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, procedures, tooling, equipment, and facilities
  • Comprehension of probability, statistical quality control and design of experiments
  • Ability to investigate quality problems and apply sound technical judgment to develop potential solutions
  • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills to collaborate with varying organizational levels
  • Partnership and teamwork skills, with ability to learn from and share knowledge in a fast-paced environment
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust
  • Ability to work effectively from remote locations, including suppliers, GM facilities, and home
  • Regular travel required, 25–50%
  • Must not require GM immigration-related sponsorship now or in the future
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a technical focus preferred
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business preferred
