About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conceptualize, build, and exercise analytical system-level models for electrified and conventional propulsion systems
- Build 1D fluid dynamics and coarse 3D thermal models for design development, validation, and reduction of hardware testing
- Model thermal, hydraulic, lubrication, and ventilation domains across batteries, drive units, electric motors, power electronics, combustion engines, and transmission-related systems
- Integrate plant models from different domains into system-level models supporting Software-in-the-Loop or Hardware-in-the-Loop co-simulation
- Provide component-level and system-level design recommendations to Design Responsible Engineers based on analysis results
- Improve analysis practices and tools to enhance prediction fidelity and execution speed
- Collaborate with analysis counterparts across VDDV teams representing global propulsion systems and vehicle engineering
- Participate in mentoring and knowledge-sharing with TCS India colleagues and new team members
- Support technical problem resolution using simulation and analysis results
- Contribute to efficiency improvement projects, including automation tools using Python or MATLAB
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of experience with simulation, design, testing, or release of propulsion-related systems or hardware
- Experience with GT-SUITE, AMESIM, or similar software
- Working knowledge of vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testing
- Ability to interpret analysis results and communicate technical recommendations
- GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role; candidates must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
- Preferred: Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with coursework in heat transfer or fluid mechanics
- Preferred: Experience with test-to-model correlation processes and variation analysis
- Preferred: Experience with programming or scripting in Python, MATLAB, or similar software
- Preferred: Experience with Siemens NX CAD modeling
- Preferred: Familiarity with AI/ML methods or agentic workflows
