About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor, report on, manage risk for, and administer a real estate loan portfolio
- Oversee large borrower relationships, covenant compliance, sponsor oversight, construction monitoring, and proactive credit-risk identification
- Partner with Lending Team Managers, Relationship Managers, Relationship Associates, Credit, and Portfolio Risk teams on portfolio management and escalations
- Establish and maintain quarterly reporting, monitoring, and risk-review processes for relationships with commitments exceeding $20MM
- Develop automated monitoring and reporting capabilities with Technology and reporting teams
- Conduct quarterly portfolio review meetings and discuss performance, emerging risks, exceptions, and action plans
- Identify adverse trends and recommend mitigation strategies
- Monitor loan maturities, extension requests, extension limits, and refinancing opportunities
- Oversee quarterly covenant testing and compliance monitoring, including DSCR, occupancy requirements, and other financial and operational covenants
- Manage liquidity covenant monitoring and testing; identify breaches and coordinate remediation
- Monitor sponsor reviews and renewal requirements; assist with sponsor renewals, interim updates, and limit increase memorandums
- Assist with Top 20 Sponsor reporting and provide portfolio-level analysis to senior leadership
- Monitor delinquent payments, assist with borrower outreach and resolution strategies, and analyze delinquency trends
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
- 4+ years working experience as a portfolio analyst/associate
- Knowledge of bank operations/systems and compliance/regulatory issues
- Experience in private money or hard money preferred
- Expert knowledge in complex commercial lending and financial deal structuring
- Expert knowledge of credit underwriting policies, procedures, processes, collateral valuation, and documentation
- Highly proficient/advanced in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database applications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask, respond well to pressure and deadlines, and work well individually and collaboratively
- Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lead and manage multiple concurrent tasks and self-prioritize workload to meet deadlines
