About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide high-quality patient care supporting patients’ physical and psychological needs throughout treatment
  • Undertake direct patient care, including patient education, wound management and medication administration
  • Coordinate and manage the care of patients attending the clinic each day
  • Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Medical Physicists, Patient Services and other multidisciplinary team members
  • Maintain clear communication regarding patient care, treatment and changes in clinical needs
  • Accurately document, communicate and action patient interactions and clinical care
  • Follow and contribute to procedures, protocols, clinical guidelines and best-practice Radiation Oncology nursing standards
  • Follow medication management protocols
  • Use ISBAR for patient handover and communication with allied health and other healthcare services
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and supportive team environment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Hold current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of two years' post-graduate nursing experience (preferred)
  • Previous oncology nursing experience highly regarded but not essential; training in Radiation Oncology nursing provided
  • Experience in wound care management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Empathy and compassion for patients and their carers
  • Well-developed clinical judgement, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to best-practice principles, patient safety and continuous quality improvement, including the NSQHS Standards
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Reliability, motivation and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Certain roles may require evidence of vaccination against, or non-susceptibility to, specified vaccine-preventable diseases
