Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set and own the operations technology vision, strategy, architecture, and investment roadmap
  • Advance modern engineering practices across microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms, DevSecOps/CI/CD, reliability engineering, and platform operations
  • Apply Azure/AWS cloud platforms, containers, and observability to strengthen platform reliability and scalability
  • Lead migration from legacy platforms to governed, cloud-based data and analytics capabilities
  • Translate enterprise modernization priorities into an actionable Operations Technology plan
  • Build, lead, and scale an engineering organization across Operations Technology
  • Develop and mentor Operations Technology leaders and build succession strength
  • Drive modern engineering, integration, delivery, AI, and automation practices
  • Digitize operations across customer service, claims, call center, and digital solutions
  • Modernize legacy environments into cloud-ready, API-enabled, modular platforms
  • Digitize invoices and claims documentation
  • Deliver workforce engagement tools
  • Expand automation and straight-through processing
  • Serve as primary technology partner to Operations and translate strategy into roadmaps and measurable outcomes
  • Co-create business cases and value propositions for platform investments
  • Advise senior and executive leaders on practical technology solutions
  • Align investments with enterprise data, architecture, cybersecurity, and engineering standards
  • Represent Operations Technology in governance forums and report modernization progress to senior leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, platform development, or enterprise technology leadership
  • Experience delivering at scale in insurance, financial services, or similarly regulated industries
  • Proven track record modernizing complex, mission-critical platforms and leading large-scale transformations
  • Experience with cloud migrations, digital platforms, integration ecosystems, core system renewal, and legacy-to-modern transitions
  • Broad technical expertise across applications, data, infrastructure, cloud platforms, security, integration, and modern software engineering practices
  • Experience managing large technology budgets, capital planning, and vendor relationships
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop large, multidisciplinary technology organizations
  • Experience navigating matrixed organizations and influencing without authority
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills
  • Strategic ability to translate complex technology environments into business-aligned roadmaps
  • Fluency in modern data, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity while balancing modernization with operational stability
  • Ability to travel, approximately 25%
