About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collect, analyze, edit, and maintain foundational geospatial datasets
- Produce and maintain GIS products using ArcGIS 10.x, ArcGIS Pro, ERDAS IMAGINE, and related geospatial software
- Support JANUS Geography Land and Ground Cover production activities
- Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) to ensure product accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Interpret and process imagery and remote sensing data
- Maintain standardized file structures and documentation
- Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams to meet production schedules and customer requirements
- Utilize Microsoft Office 365 and Windows File Explorer for documentation and workflow management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geographic Information Science (GIS), Remote Sensing, Geography, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of relevant geospatial experience
- Previous experience supporting JANUS Geography Land and Ground Cover efforts, including VISNAV, IWLSISS, SoilScape, JG233, JG248, JG261, or JG 282
- Must have worked in support of the JANUS Geography program and/or one of its task orders
- Experience using ArcGIS 10.x and/or ArcGIS Pro with applicable extensions, or ERDAS IMAGINE
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Windows File Explorer
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a production-focused environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality geospatial products
- U.S. Citizenship generally required for most Geo Owl open positions
- Previous Quality Control experience supporting JANUS Geography production strongly encouraged for senior-level consideration
