About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own end-to-end design of core product experiences from early concept through shipment and iteration
- Build Geordie's design system, including tokens, components, patterns, and documentation
- Contribute to Geordie's brand, visual language, illustrations, and assets
- Lead customer discovery and research through interviews and pattern identification
- Work directly with customers to test design concepts and connect insight to shipped product
- Collaborate daily with engineers through pairing and design-quality reviews
- Use AI tools to prototype and contribute to the codebase
- Contribute directly to product direction and decisions about what to build
- Define problems, shape scope, and own outcomes
- Establish clear, trustworthy design for expert users of a security and governance product
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant experience as a product designer
- Portfolio demonstrating complex UX problem-solving, not just polished visuals
- Experience designing highly complex B2B SaaS products
- Experience with data visualisation and data-dense interfaces
- Proven ability across research, concept, detailed design, and handoff
- Strong product thinking and ability to define problems, question briefs, and help decide what to build
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, iterative environment with evolving requirements
- Strong opinions about design systems and component architecture
- Experience building or significantly contributing to a design system
- Ability to articulate and defend design decisions
- Comfortable pair-designing with engineers and reviewing pull requests for design quality
- Nice to have: experience designing for security, developer, or enterprise SaaS products
- Nice to have: familiarity with AI agent tooling, observability platforms, or data-dense interfaces
- Nice to have: experience contributing to design systems, including tokens, components, and documentation
- Nice to have: experience with brand or visual identity, illustration, iconography, or marketing design
- Nice to have: experience writing code, basic frontend, or using AI tools to prototype in the browser
- Nice to have: background at an early-stage startup building from scratch
