About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the VDC Peer Group Leader and participate in the National VDC Strategic Plan, companywide trainings, and software implementation
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to develop VDC strategy and implementation across business units and projects
  • Manage VDC workload and proactively allocate resources, including sharing resources across regions
  • Integrate VDC across departments and collaborate with the Gilbane Technology Group to foster innovation
  • Develop national VDC standards, baseline documents, training, communication, and implementation plans
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in two or more areas and oversee SME sub-peer group success at the national level
  • Develop content for and participate in business development, sales, pursuits, and client interviews
  • Build and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships to facilitate project success
  • Facilitate team communication, ensure project accountability, and escalate or report issues to upper management
  • Investigate emerging technology and participate in pilot projects for new software and processes
  • Attend and present at industry events and monitor industry trends and competitor analysis
  • Lead VDC deliverables and tasks across a region
  • Manage career development and coaching of team members
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Translate organizational strategy and ensure team understanding of strategic goals
  • Partner with business development on sales strategies, client capture plans, and account plans
  • Optimize profit levers and gross profit margin tactics to achieve new-sales performance targets
  • Strengthen client, partner, and industry relationships to position Gilbane as the Builder of Choice

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in BIM, VDC, Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or a related field
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated expertise leading BIM/VDC initiatives, technology implementation, and project support teams
  • Proven ability to apply advanced technical and industry knowledge gained through hands-on experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an AEC or related field preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated expertise and industry knowledge valued as highly as formal education
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong time-management and analytical skills
  • Expert knowledge of BIM and design software
  • Strong knowledge of complex design concepts and integrated building components and systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Knowledge of local and national market conditions
  • Ability to train and develop VDC Managers and Engineers on a variety of VDC tasks and processes
  • Knowledge of various project delivery types and market sectors and how to apply them to the VDC process
  • Ability to prioritize tasks of self and direct reports to achieve VDC deliverable deadlines
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test if offered a position
