About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Drive product strategy and direction for tenant scale and unified deployment capabilities across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and future deployment models
Set quarterly and annual plans for tenant portability and platform unification, breaking epics into issues and minimal valuable changes
Define requirements for the unified deployment platform
Partner with engineering teams to turn infrastructure constraints and platform needs into product direction
Collaborate with product peers across the Platforms organization and align work spanning multiple groups
Engage internal and external customers to understand isolation, regional deployment, compliance, and operational-readiness needs
Build business cases for tenant-scale and unified-deployment investments
Facilitate tradeoff discussions on scalability, tenant encapsulation, deployment consistency, and platform unification
Translate technical concepts into product plans, priorities, documentation, and delivery milestones
Represent GitLab on cellular architecture and tenant scale in customer calls, events, and external forums
Coach fellow product managers and support shared ownership of the product work pool

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience managing product work in technical domains such as infrastructure, scalability, platform architecture, software delivery, or cloud services
Ability to work effectively with deeply technical engineering teams and build credibility in discussions about system design, deployment models, and platform constraints
Knowledge of SaaS or platform-based systems, including multitenancy, horizontal scalability, autoscaling, workload isolation, and production readiness
Ability to build a deep understanding of GitLab’s architecture and tech stack and coach others on it
Comfort working with customers or internal stakeholders on operational, compliance, or regional deployment needs
Skill in turning ambiguous technical problems into product strategy, plans, priorities, and actionable work
Expertise in qualitative customer interviewing and product validation
Experience building business cases, including build, buy, and partner options
Experience collaborating across product, engineering, user experience, and other cross-functional partners in a distributed environment
Clear written and verbal communication and excellent presentation skills
Recognition as a thought leader in a relevant domain
Transferable experience from engineering, technical support, or adjacent product roles is welcomed
