About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Draft Letters of Medical Necessity, medical narratives, claims documentation, and supporting materials
  • Manage multiple claims and documentation requests while producing approximately 50–60 letters per month
  • Review patient records to identify diagnoses, conditions, treatments, functional limitations, and supporting clinical information
  • Translate clinical information and health science literature into documentation establishing medical necessity
  • Support timely review and approval of claims, Home Health Care services, durable medical equipment, and eligible benefits
  • Ensure documentation captures eligible medical conditions and related needs consistent with medical necessity and program guidelines
  • Collaborate with patients, healthcare professionals, internal teams, and other stakeholders to obtain information and resolve documentation gaps
  • Communicate compassionately with patients to explain the documentation process and support engagement
  • Maintain accurate, compliant, professional documentation aligned with medical records, policies, and applicable requirements
  • Support documentation and claims-related needs for a patient population of up to 500 patients as a member of the Growth Office

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Biology, Nursing, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting required
  • Experience preferably in coordinating and managing patient documentation, medical writing, medical terminology, healthcare administration, clinical documentation, Letters of Medical Necessity, claims administration, or healthcare operations
  • Familiarity with healthcare programs and benefits, claims processes, or government healthcare programs preferred
  • Knowledge of the Department of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) Program preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply relevant health science literature and clinical information
  • Strong written communication and medical documentation skills
  • Ability to analyze complex medical information and synthesize concise, well-organized narratives
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies, missing information, and documentation opportunities
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to meet productivity, quality, timeliness, and patient-success KPIs
