About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support investigation of the entire value chain for specific areas of the manufacturing business
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and new approaches that maximise efficiency and deliver differentiating aerospace manufacturing solutions
  • Document research and development activities in technical reports, memos, procedures, specifications and presentations
  • Work as part of a multifunctional team including design, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, operations and HSE
  • Develop processes closely with business units to ensure successful implementation
  • Support the five GKN principles and help the engineering team meet and surpass site targets
  • Ensure and maintain HSE standards and adherence to processes
  • Develop procedures where required to support implementation of new technologies at Filton
  • Generate and support internal and external communications about projects and progress
  • Promote awareness of the team’s capabilities
  • Utilize practical problem-solving tools, gather and analyze live data, and advocate process improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Working towards a degree in Engineering, Science or Maths
  • General understanding of the whole manufacturing value chain, from materials through to design, manufacture and testing
  • Logical approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Background knowledge of fabrication/processing, inspection, assembly and automation techniques is desirable
  • Detailed knowledge in one or more relevant areas is preferred
  • Ability to plan, monitor and control projects to schedule and budget is desirable
  • Organised and methodical approach is desirable
  • Strong self-starter, enthusiastic, results-driven and customer-focused attitude is desirable
