About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process biweekly payroll for assigned employee groups, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery
- Review and validate payroll inputs, audits, and exception reports to identify and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll completion
- Configure and maintain employee payroll system data, including time and attendance settings, direct deposit/banking information, tax withholding elections, and earnings and deduction setup
- Research, investigate, and resolve payroll issues, inquiries, and discrepancies raised by employees, managers, HR, or third-party providers
- Process payroll-related transactions such as new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, compensation changes, and other employee lifecycle events
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll legislation, tax requirements, company policies, and internal controls
- Partner with HR, Benefits, Finance, and other stakeholders to support payroll operations and maintain data accuracy
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, reporting, quarter-end and year-end activities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process documentation and knowledge-sharing activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Postsecondary education in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience in payroll administration, payroll processing, or a related operational role
- Knowledge of payroll processes, time and attendance systems, and payroll legislation
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience working with payroll and HRIS systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
