About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contact members regarding charged-off accounts and arrange repayment of debts
- Respond to member inquiries regarding financial obligations owed to the credit union
- Perform skip traces as required
- Arrange and approve settlements and payment agreements within credit union guidelines
- Analyze and recommend adverse actions, including repossession of collateral, closure of credit limits, credit-card blocks, legal actions, and account codes alerting departments to losses and fraud accounts
- Assist in developing and training staff on collection-related policies, laws, and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Report to the Senior SC Recovery Officer
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school graduate or equivalent
- One year's experience in the collection field with knowledge of current regulations regarding collections, or one year of experience with this credit union in a problem-solving capacity routinely requiring independent decision making
- Direct and varied member contact
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Special Credits Recovery Officer II requires 12 months tenure in Special Credits Recovery Officer I with performance meeting or exceeding expectations
- Special Credits Recovery Officer III requires 12 months tenure in Special Credits Recovery Officer II with performance meeting or exceeding expectations
- Directly related work experience and/or accelerated training completion may substitute for tenure
