About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and develop reliable, observable, and easy-to-operate backend microservices and data pipelines
Own the entire CI/CD lifecycle: develop, test, deploy, and monitor your own code
Take ownership of the production environment
Contribute to the migration to AWS by developing and operating services on AWS and migrating existing pipelines
Use AI agents to generate and evolve code
Conduct code reviews of code developed by people and generated by AI
Participate in architecture and trade-off decisions, identifying risks and alternatives
Lead end-to-end activities with support from the Tech Lead and Tech Manager
Help raise the team’s technical standards
Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and pair programming sessions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong experience in backend engineering in production environments, designing, developing, and operating microservices at scale
Solid DevOps knowledge, including CI/CD, containerization, observability, and current industry-standard operational practices
Hands-on experience with AWS, developing and operating services in production
Hands-on experience with AI tools for software development, directing AI agents and reviewing, correcting, and strengthening generated code
Senior-level ability to take end-to-end ownership, from solution design through production deployment
Proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and work closely with the team
Experience with functional programming, particularly Clojure, is a plus
Knowledge of JVM languages, especially Java, is valued
Experience with event-processing and messaging systems, such as Kafka or similar technologies, and high-volume data pipelines is a plus
English proficiency is a plus; fluency is not required
Experience migrating workloads between cloud providers, such as GCP → AWS, is a plus
