About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take full ownership of the core Django service bridging algorithmic models and internal teams.
Design APIs, model data, define cross-team data contracts, and maintain high performance at scale.
Build, deploy, and maintain high-load Django and Django REST Framework applications on PostgreSQL.
Ensure clean data modeling, robust API design, and schema consistency across multiple domains.
Analyze PostgreSQL query execution plans, build indexes, and tune performance, including TimescaleDB time-series and PostGIS spatial queries.
Implement enterprise authentication solutions including OAuth/OIDC, federated SSO, token validation, and identity provider integrations.
Architect and build the partner and operator Wagtail CMS from scratch, including page models, structured content, media workflows, and authoring interface.
Productionize research models as microservices with strict data contracts, model versioning, reliable REST endpoints, and complete observability.
Lead code reviews and define foundational architecture patterns.
Mentor a junior Python engineer.
Report to the Engineering Manager as part of the Algo Development team.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
7+ years of commercial software engineering experience with a primary focus on Python and running production-grade services (excluding internal tools, scripts, or prototype notebooks; Staff candidates are expected to have a longer track record).
Extensive production experience with Django and Django REST Framework (DRF), including shipping, scaling, and troubleshooting complex services (handling high-traffic ORM N+1 queries, transaction boundaries, migrations under load, and custom querysets).
