Intern – Software Development Engineer
GM Financial. Support Agile development teams through software development, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives .
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support Agile development teams through software development, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint activities, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives
- Participate in team and departmental meetings
- Contribute to feature development for data marketplaces, mobile applications, web applications, and API services
- Assist with vulnerability remediation
- Assist with building and improving DevOps tooling, including pipelines and static scanning
- Complete the internship program final capstone presentation
- Maintain a production-first mindset focused on scale and uptime
- Rapidly triage and resolve production issues
- Contribute to Agile practice improvements focused on product quality and time to market
- Gain exposure to the full software development lifecycle and collaborate on innovative technology solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Junior or Senior classification preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required; ability to give presentations and communicate with business leaders
- Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and conceptual skills required
- Detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting
- Ability to use AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to support daily work
- Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
- Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
- Familiarity with AI-assisted research, summarization, and content generation
- Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection
- Experience with AI-assisted software development or automation preferred
- Knowledge of prompting techniques preferred
- Awareness of emerging GenAI capabilities and limitations preferred
- Must be a student pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or Statistics
- At least one semester remaining upon start of the internship
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale
- Previous internships are a plus
