About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in evaluating, researching, and experimenting with computational learning technologies in a lab
  • Assess business impact and viability for use cases associated with efforts in hand
  • Collaborate with statisticians, data engineers, application developers, and related groups to highlight emerging technology capabilities
  • Enable adoption of modern technologies, computational learning, and associated algorithms
  • Work with IT counterparts and business partners to develop, integrate, and deploy computational learning as part of applications
  • Contribute to research and development projects applying advanced technologies in the financial industry
  • Assist in developing and prototyping new solutions
  • Contribute to initiatives implementing advanced technology solutions addressing financial challenges

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Junior or Senior classification preferred
  • Basic programming skills in languages such as Python, JavaScript, .NET or Java
  • Interest in technologies like AI, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, and Server less computing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to give presentations and communicate with business leaders
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and conceptual skills
  • Detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting
  • Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection
  • Must be a current student pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Must have at least one semester remaining upon start of the internship
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale
  • GM Financial does not provide sponsorship for a work visa status for this position
