About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, conduct, and manage meetings to ensure they are productive and focused
- Coordinate with meeting organizers to understand objectives and prepare agendas
- Ensure necessary materials and equipment are available and functional
- Distribute agendas and pre-meeting materials to participants in advance
- Serve as the master of ceremonies
- Guide discussions, keep meetings on track, and ensure agenda items are covered
- Encourage participation and manage group dynamics
- Address conflicts and ensure all viewpoints are heard and considered
- Summarize discussion points, decisions, and action items
- Distribute meeting minutes or summaries promptly
- Track progress on action items and follow up as needed
- Gather participant feedback to assess meeting effectiveness
- Continuously improve facilitation techniques based on feedback and experience
- Effectively communicate complex business concepts to stakeholders at all levels
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree (Masters or higher preferred)
- Minimum 10+ years of experience as a meeting facilitator in the public sector
- Vast experience providing consulting services to governmental entities or field of specialization
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience designing public “town-hall” type meetings and other convenings on public policy issues
- Experience working with diverse audiences
- Compelling and competent public speaker
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Experience in state or local government, preferably within the District of Columbia government
- Candidates must be local to the DMV area
