About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead tax compliance obligations for all Canadian, U.S., and European subsidiaries
- Support the tax aspects of mutual funds
- Serve as the internal expert and key resource for complex tax matters
- Collaborate on the preparation of tax returns, SR&ED tax credit claims, and grant applications
- Prepare accounting records, unconsolidated and consolidated financial statements under private enterprise standards, and financial analyses
- Lead budget planning, analyze variances, and provide optimization recommendations
- Prepare valuation and audit files
- Manage relationships with external auditors
- Develop and validate financial analyses for investment projects, including ROI, NPV, and IRR calculations and modeling
- Recommend strategies to improve the profitability and financial position of entities
- Collaborate with senior management on strategic corporate projects, from feasibility through implementation
- Design, structure, and automate financial processes
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Maintain clear, structured, and consistent documentation of accounting processes and activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- CPA designation required
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in Canadian accounting and taxation, in public practice or a corporate environment
- Fluent spoken and written French and English required
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions and financial modeling
- Knowledge of Oracle Financials is an asset
- Experience in the financial or real estate sector is an asset
- Highly self-motivated, rigorous, strategically minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple complex matters simultaneously under tight deadlines
