About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer routine employee benefits processes, including enrollments, qualifying life events, status changes, new hires, transfers, and terminations
  • Maintain accurate and timely employee benefits records and eligibility information
  • Process Benefits tickets through ServiceNow, respond to employee inquiries, resolve routine issues, and escalate complex matters
  • Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for employee benefits inquiries
  • Support annual Benefits Open Enrollment, including system updates, employee communications, issue resolution, and follow-up
  • Collaborate with Payroll to research and resolve benefits deduction discrepancies
  • Coordinate benefits-related communications and documentation for new hires and existing employees
  • Maintain benefits documentation and records in accordance with company policies and legal and regulatory requirements
  • Input, review, and update employee information in benefits administration and HRIS systems
  • Prepare and analyze routine benefits reports covering enrollment, eligibility, deduction, and participation data
  • Perform benefits billing reconciliation and research discrepancies among enrollment records, vendor invoices, and payroll deductions
  • Support benefits audits and research and resolve eligibility discrepancies
  • Assist with vendor communications and routine benefits administration issues
  • Identify process issues and recommend improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Level 1: 0–2 years of administrative, human resources, benefits, payroll, or related experience
  • Level 2: 3–4 years of administrative, human resources, benefits, payroll, or related experience
  • Level 3: 5–6 years of administrative, human resources, benefits, payroll, or related experience
  • Ability to interpret and apply benefits policies and procedures
  • Ability to use HRIS, benefits administration, and service ticketing systems
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills
  • Effective and diplomatic verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Level 2 and Level 3: Experience supporting employee benefits administration
  • Level 2 and Level 3: Experience with Microsoft Excel formulas and data reconciliation
  • Level 3: Experience independently administering employee benefits programs and resolving complex benefits issues
  • Level 3: Experience with benefits billing reconciliation, eligibility audits, and benefits data analysis
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Preferred: Associate or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Preferred: Experience with COBRA, 401(k) plans, health and wellness programs, or other employee benefit programs
  • Preferred: Experience with HRIS or benefits administration systems such as ADP
  • Preferred: Experience with Excel functions including VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP
  • Preferred: Progress toward SHRM-CP, PHR, or PHR certification
  • Preferred: Previous experience working with Alaska Native Corporations
  • Preferred: Previous government contracting experience
