About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle cases from inception to resolution and take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, correspondence, memoranda, and other documents
- Record and disseminate client information
- Summarize medical records and highlight important information
- Write client reports summarizing case status and analyzing case faults
- Identify, research, and analyze legal issues and conflicting legal opinions
- Take and defend depositions, handle arbitrations, and argue motions
- Attend in-person and virtual court appearances
- Represent clients in defense of complex and high-exposure litigation
- Explain litigation processes to individuals unfamiliar with them
- Move cases toward cost-effective, efficient, and fair resolutions
- Manage multiple assignments and deadlines
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least five years of experience in insurance defense
- Experience handling depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other complex assignments
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Member in good standing with the New Jersey bar
- Membership in the Pennsylvania and/or New York bar is an added plus
- Good judgment and organizational skills
- Ability to manage a large caseload and day-to-day case tasks
- Strong desire to learn and grow in the legal profession
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
- Experience billing for time
