About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and oversee a comprehensive caseload of medical malpractice claims from initial assessment to final resolution
- Consult with experts to assess the standard of care and determine whether a breach occurred
- Identify, research, and analyze complex legal issues and conflicting legal opinions
- Communicate with clients, insurance company contacts, and opposing counsel to facilitate case progression and address concerns
- Prioritize assignments and competing deadlines
- Take and defend depositions
- Represent clients in arbitration proceedings
- Argue motions to secure favorable rulings
- Attend in-person and virtual court appearances
- Collaborate with attorneys, staff members, and partners on legal projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of medical malpractice defense experience
- Experience handling depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other complex assignments
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to manage a large caseload and day-to-day case tasks
- Strong desire to learn and grow in the legal profession
- Experience billing for time
