About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations for the Cyprus entity.
- Support financial operations in a fintech environment, including multi-currency payments, payment provider settlements, and applicable digital asset transactions.
- Process supplier invoices, employee reimbursements, and company payments.
- Manage employee advances, business travel expenses, and expense reports.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable and maintain accurate financial records.
- Perform bank reconciliations and support cash flow monitoring.
- Maintain financial documentation and coordinate with banks, vendors, and external accountants.
- Prepare and coordinate monthly payroll for Cyprus-based employees.
- Calculate salaries, bonuses, advances, reimbursements, and other employee-related payments.
- Handle payroll deductions and contributions, including PAYE, Social Insurance, and GHS/GESY.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding from a payroll and financial administration perspective.
- Work with HR to ensure accurate payroll data and timely payments.
- Support Cyprus tax compliance, including VAT, payroll taxes, and statutory contributions.
- Support application of the Cyprus IP Box regime by tracking qualifying R&D expenditure, maintaining nexus-approach documentation, and coordinating with external tax advisors.
- Prepare and submit relevant tax and payroll declarations where applicable.
- Monitor tax deadlines and ensure timely payments to local authorities.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors.
- Support financial reporting, audits, and year-end closing procedures.
- Ensure financial operations comply with Cyprus accounting and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of experience in accounting, payroll, or finance operations.
- Practical experience with Cyprus accounting, payroll, and taxation is essential.
- Strong understanding of Cyprus payroll procedures, PAYE, Social Insurance, and GHS/GESY contributions.
- Experience processing salaries, employee advances, reimbursements, and business travel expenses.
- Understanding of VAT, tax filings, and local financial reporting requirements.
- At least a basic understanding of the Cyprus IP Box regime: qualifying IP assets, the nexus approach, and the 80% exemption on qualifying profits.
- Experience in fintech or financial services, including an understanding of payment flows and financial operations specific to fintech companies.
- Confident Excel skills and experience with accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple financial processes.
- Good communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
- English B2+.
- Currently residing in Cyprus.
