About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Defend GNY’s insureds in litigation cases in the New York Metropolitan area
Handle cases from inception of litigation through verdict or settlement
Attend depositions, court conferences, and trials
Manage pleadings and documentary discovery
Evaluate liability and damages and report to the carrier
Conduct legal research and motions
Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need

Juris Doctor and admission to the New York State Bar required
5–12 years of experience in general negligence litigation, including Labor Law
Recent jury trial experience litigating multimillion-dollar cases to verdict
Ability to handle litigation cases without oversight
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 required
Legal case management program experience required; Neos preferred
Excellent oral and writing skills, documented by decisions on summary judgment motions or appellate briefs
Excellent research ability
Strong verbal and written communication skills required
Ability to work in a team environment required
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and efficiently prioritize work required
Superior research skills and ability to analyze complex matters required
Ability to travel daily to court appearances, site inspections, and depositions throughout the New York Metropolitan area
