About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Establish and maintain smooth operation of computer systems, including operating systems, software, and hardware
Maintain system integrity and upgrade systems and servers as required
Create and document methods supporting network/system operations
Consult with support teams, help desks, customers, and technical staff to resolve problems
Coordinate and perform network/server operations and maintenance
Identify recurring problems and recommend steps to reduce their severity or frequency
Plan transitions of development and production environments to new technologies
Monitor system-file performance and manage system data to maintain efficiency
Study system requirements to determine server installation methods and procedures
Administer computer networks and related computing environments
Implement network/system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
Monitor and analyze short- and long-range planning for in-house systems
Prepare or ensure appropriate operational documentation exists
Write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks
Recommend changes to systems and network configurations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's with 12+ years (or commensurate experience)
10 years of IT/systems administrator experience
Must have an active HUD Public Trust
Experience administering computer networks and related computing environments
Experience with computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and configurations
Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement network/system security measures
Ability to monitor and analyze in-house systems
Ability to prepare and maintain operational documentation
Ability to write or modify basic scripts
Ability to recommend improvements to systems and network configurations
