About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic leadership in planning and coordinating annual training and exercise activities for internal and external partners
  • Coordinate internal and external training, exercise, and professional development initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal branches, municipal partners, provincial and federal agencies, community organizations, training providers, and stakeholders
  • Coordinate training, exercise, and event planning, including timelines, roles, responsibilities, deliverables, logistics, communications, and approvals
  • Plan and coordinate DEM events, including agendas, logistics, materials, participant information, facilitation supports, and follow-up
  • Arrange venues, registration, accessibility requirements, materials, equipment, technology, and participant coordination
  • Identify risks, barriers, dependencies, and resource constraints and support mitigation strategies
  • Source and coordinate instructors, venues, materials, tools, external courses, training providers, and other resources
  • Coordinate funding requirements, training grants, procurement needs, and resource requests
  • Maintain and publish annual public training, exercise, and event calendars
  • Coordinate technology readiness, including virtual platforms, registration tools, presentation equipment, collaboration tools, and learning management system access
  • Develop and implement programs and associated policies and procedures
  • Manage relationships with internal clients and stakeholders, including senior management
  • Support responsible management of human and financial resources, monitor expenditures, and follow procurement requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Related university degree combined with several years of coordination experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience developing and implementing programs and associated policies and procedures
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners, senior management, and other stakeholders
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence
  • Access to a licensed, operational motor vehicle
  • Certification in emergency management (asset)
  • Experience with learner management systems (asset)
  • Satisfactory completion of applicable background checks and credential confirmation
