About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the California territory as a University Admissions Counselor
- Host and implement event and activity plans that build awareness of academic programs and campus community and generate inquiries
- Counsel prospective students and their families in person, by phone, email, text, and Zoom
- Connect with community college students, faculty, and staff
- Engage major stakeholders throughout the territory
- Attend fairs, school visits, presentations, community and campus events, and host campus visits
- Promote Grand Canyon University and support institutional growth
- Work independently from home while supporting prospective students and families through the admissions process
- Guide students from application through their first few weeks on campus
- Coach diverse students and families and develop relationships with community colleges and staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must live in or near Phoenix, AZ
- Bachelor’s degree
- No delinquent or defaulted federal student loan, as verified in a credit report; if in rehabilitation, credit report must show current payments
- Outstanding time management and organization skills
- Clear communication and engaging presentation skills
- Well-developed listening skills
- Self-motivation and drive to succeed
- High emotional intelligence and ability to demonstrate empathy
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation and ability to use a personal vehicle
- Flexible schedule and willingness to travel extensively
- Clean driving record
- Evening and/or weekend availability for some events
- Computer literacy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Relevant industry-related professional experience is a bonus
- Experience working with CRM tools is a bonus
- Grand Canyon University on-campus attendance and alumni experience are bonus qualifications
