Field Engineer I – Solar

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical engineering and cost information on solar projects up to 500MW
- Ensure construction work complies with engineering standards for pre-drill, post-installation, tracker installation, and/or module installation
- Assist with job controls, including contract, budget, schedule, forecasting, and job costing compliance
- Review and prepare daily cost reports for project teams and upper management
- Interpret designs and drawings for craft workers
- Ensure field personnel use current plan sets, installation manuals, and specifications
- Research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errors
- Prepare and distribute status reports, punch lists, completion sketches, and material requirement calculations
- Support project material controls, delivery dates, construction schedules, and design requirements
- Prepare drawings and sketches for construction work, change orders, and estimates
- Provide building control lines and elevations for accurate material installation
- Develop quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs, and equipment data for estimates and bids
- Research historical data and productivity analysis reports for future estimating guidelines
- Maintain working-document files supporting estimating figures and bid submissions
- Attend morning safety meetings
- Create and maintain three-week project look-ahead schedules
- Submit and maintain RFI and submittal logs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience
- 0–2 years construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience
- Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Scheduling, and HCSS (Heavyjob)
- Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and applicable standards
- Ability to perform trigonometric calculations manually or with a calculator
- Ability to assume responsibility and communicate effectively with others
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outside and around large construction equipment
- Comply with corporate safety initiatives
- Ability and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
