About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop accurate and timely proposals and estimates for private and public sector works projects
Comprehend and administer safety programs and foster participation at all levels
Promote compliance with environmental policies and mitigate operational effects
Foster a quality culture and ensure products or services meet customer expectations
Analyze and compile estimate data affecting labor, materials, equipment, location, and other costs
Review drawings, specifications, and proposed project site conditions
Record site findings and solicit field operations input for final project estimates
Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase bid competitiveness
Review take-off quantities for estimate accuracy
Use existing cost history to check estimates
Apply advanced mathematical calculations to produce accurate cost estimates
Analyze and evaluate bidding risks and strategies
Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with senior management
Analyze competition and communicate with owners, subcontractors, and public and private entities
Communicate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings
Develop and maintain business relationships to increase regional bid opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience
7+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience
4+ years estimating experience
Federal experience preferred
Experience managing a team preferred
Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Proficiency with AGTEK Take-off and Primavera Scheduling software
Advanced knowledge of Estimating software
Advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles
Advanced knowledge of construction principles
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Advanced knowledge of agency (U)DBE requirements
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
Ability and willingness to comply with corporate safety initiatives
Ability and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct on a daily basis
Team player
Safety-conscious when working around large construction equipment
