About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise and coordinate the work of paving crew workers
- Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans
- Adjust work plans for weather, supply, delivery and personnel changes
- Delegate responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors
- Recruit, hire, train, manage and mentor employees and contractors
- Provide resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices and safety needs
- Emphasize safe use of tools, machinery and equipment
- Train workers on safety gear, helmets and procedures
- Develop and manage project budgets and quality standards for all sites
- Resolve conflicts and miscommunications
- Report project status to supervisors, site engineers and other officials
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
- Appropriate training and experience required
- Customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration
- Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors
- Leadership skills for delegating tasks to workers
- Speaking skills for giving clear orders and explaining complex information
- Technical skills for interpreting construction methods, technologies, contracts and technical drawings
- Time-management skills to meet deadlines
- Writing skills for budgets, proposals, plans and work-progress documentation
- Ability to work skillfully with hands
- Ability to climb and balance on ladders and scaffolds
- Ability to see well and distinguish colors
- Ability to reach, handle and grasp wires and hand tools
- Ability to bend, crouch and work in small places
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must complete pre-hire drug testing
