About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Sample, test, and inspect construction materials or elements in laboratory or field settings
- Ensure compliance with supplier and owner specifications for soil, aggregate, and hot mix asphalt (HMA)
- Prepare and communicate testing and inspection results to supervisors and plant personnel
- Implement necessary process changes to satisfy quality control standards
- Follow materials quality requirements in the company management system (GMS) and Construction Materials Playbook
- Train Level I technicians on sampling and testing of construction materials
- Participate in and promote company safety procedures
- Perform duties requiring talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, computer keyboard use, reaching, and occasional lifting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Regional or State Agency certification for material being sampled, tested, inspected required
- 1+ years of related experience required
- Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations
- Basic computer skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability and willingness to consistently abide by company code of conduct
- Ability to comply with, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- High school diploma preferred
- MDOT certifications preferred
