About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and schedule functions for assigned programs while ensuring compliance with project specifications and continuous improvement of company standards
- Support complex federal pursuits and projects by integrating design, estimating, procurement, permitting, stakeholder decisions, and construction activities into executable schedules from proposal through closeout
- Oversee planning and scheduling policies, processes, and procedures
- Partner with project stakeholders to develop approved baseline schedules aligned with proposed sequencing and short-interval schedules
- Create CPM schedules with resource and cost loads and generate reports
- Prepare detailed schedule narratives for formal client submissions
- Integrate planning and scheduling software and methodologies into cohesive execution plans
- Update CPM schedules to reflect requirements, challenges, and sequencing implications
- Review project-specific scheduling specifications and provide contractual guidance to project teams
- Prepare weekly prospective schedule TIAs, updates, and reconciliation schedules
- Support companywide planning and scheduling guidance, processes, and procedures
- Communicate with stakeholders using heavy civil construction methodology and sequencing knowledge
- Develop federal proposal schedules, milestone tables, phasing plans, procurement timelines, schedule narratives, and graphics
- Review solicitations, technical requirements, milestones, access and security constraints, owner-furnished information, and schedule requirements
- Collaborate with pursuit leadership, estimating, design, procurement, operations, and project teams
- Integrate design releases, owner decisions, permitting, long-lead procurement, early work packages, construction, commissioning, and closeout
- Participate in pursuit strategy meetings, color reviews, risk workshops, interview preparation, and client presentations
- Identify schedule risks, critical decisions, acceleration opportunities, and alternative execution strategies
- Support schedule continuity from pursuit through project completion
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required in engineering, construction management, project management, or comparable discipline; equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
- AACEI PSP, PMI-SP, or other professional planning and scheduling certification preferred
- 10+ years of full-time construction-related experience in project-level planning and scheduling
- Minimum 75% of career experience as a scheduler for large heavy civil projects with a general contractor
- Experience performing, monitoring, reviewing, and planning scheduling functions, including schedule development, controls, and analysis
- Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to planning and scheduling problems
- Thorough knowledge of planning and scheduling for heavy civil projects, including means and methods
- Mastery of Primavera P6, Powerproject, or Tilos, and ability to learn and teach various scheduling software
- Comprehension of CPM and PDM methodology, including network diagramming, WBS, task creation, and report preparation
- Familiarity with AACEI and PMI standards
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office, including Excel for schedule data analysis
- Proven experience with cost and schedule databases
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Effective communication skills in English, both orally and in writing, with experience developing and presenting training
- Ability to translate solicitation, design, estimating, procurement, and construction information into integrated proposal and project schedules
