About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct the Quality and Continuous Improvement Process for the GPI facility
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the validity of the Quality System
  • Allocate capital appropriately to equipment and processes that advance the business
  • Identify personnel training requirements related to new equipment and processes
  • Improve people and processes to reduce costs, improve product quality, strengthen competitiveness, and support business growth
  • Meet and maintain divisional Quality Process Management objectives
  • Direct employee activities, duties, and projects to ensure compliance with customer specifications
  • Serve as plant contact for customer complaints and customer compliance audits
  • Maintain internal and external complaint reporting systems
  • Direct development of Statistical Process Control in production and quality-control areas
  • Execute and manage Continuous Improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma, Process Improvement, and Lean projects
  • Track and report financially validated savings through the GPI Project Tracking Database
  • Communicate plant quality expectations and monitor performance against objectives
  • Solicit employee input to support quality and continuous improvement goals
  • Share responsibility for product safety, GMP, and sanitation compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of SQF prerequisites, including HACCP, GMP, and Food Defense
  • Develop, implement, review, maintain, and communicate the current SQF Code
  • Lead annual plant SQF reviews, internal audits, and third-party audit scheduling
  • Coordinate SQF root-cause and corrective-action activities
  • Perform verification and validation of SQF controls
  • Establish and maintain methods for monitoring, sampling, inspection, testing, and analysis of materials and finished goods
  • Review and update training requirements for onsite personnel
  • Develop and maintain QA tracking and employee-development documents and records
  • Protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s reputation and uphold its core values
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Must be a certified Six Sigma Black Belt or attain certification as part of selection
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, track, execute, and document multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop, implement, and document systems for product and process maintenance and control
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software, MINITAB, SHAREPOINT, spreadsheet, and communications software
  • Daily exposure to the shop floor environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to make reasoned decisions with incomplete information
  • Strong commitment to quality, ethics, and high principles
  • Action-oriented and able to meet challenges quickly
  • Leadership skills and ability to motivate people to perform at high levels
  • Excellent attendance and ability to work independently
  • Minimum 2 year degree with 5 years of work experience in progressively more responsible positions
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Knowledge of SAP, MS Office, and database programs
  • Company-issued Fork Truck Operator’s License
  • Company-issued Clamp Truck Operator’s License
  • Willingness to work alternate schedules, including early mornings, nights, and weekends
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week and perform the listed physical activities
  • Ability to use hand and electrical tools and equipment and work in fluctuating temperatures and loud noises
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, and hair net
