About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain operation of paper cup machines producing paper cups
  • Clean machines and surrounding areas
  • Start and stop finishers
  • Load blanks onto finishers
  • Perform duties safely and orderly
  • Participate in department safety meetings and initiatives
  • Monitor equipment to ensure safety standards
  • Observe, mitigate, and/or report unsafe acts or conditions
  • Follow ZES/IES requirements when working on equipment
  • Communicate with supervisors, group leaders, peers, other employees, and oncoming shifts
  • Attend daily team production meetings
  • Assist in producing products consistent with food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
  • Maintain 5S in the work area
  • Complete shutdown and startup procedures on PMC finishers, baggers, and CE machines
  • Operate an ergo tug to move blank carts
  • Relieve cup packers during breaks and lunch
  • Assist the material handler and padlocker operator as required
  • Maintain bottom stock ink jet printers
  • Monitor machines, fluids, and glue while maintaining cleanliness
  • Remove damaged paper stock and clear scrap stock
  • Empty spoilage boxes during the shift
  • Perform quality checks including fiber teardown, print, scuffs, and date codes
  • Log in, code downtime, and enter make-ready information in Ignition software
  • Hang butt rolls on finishers
  • Splice and thread bottom stock through the bottom punch station
  • Complete machine operator finishing rounds checklists
  • Notify the Shift Supervisor or Group Leader of problems beyond the role’s scope
  • Instruct and train others once qualified
  • Manage workload to meet production requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Basic mechanical background and skill to perform technical tasks
  • Able to use hand tools properly and safely
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well with all levels of personnel, individually or in a team environment
  • Ability to take direction from others to accomplish goals
  • Ability to perform essential physical functions with or without accommodation
  • Able to walk or stand for extended periods of time up to 12 hours
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Able to lower up to 30 lbs. from a height of 4 feet
  • Ability to work in various temperatures and humidity levels
  • Fulfill overtime requirements
