About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Set up, adjust, and perform make-readies on the assigned folder gluer machine
- Troubleshoot machine and quality issues
- Assist with maintenance and machine setups
- Safely and efficiently manufacture high-quality folding cartons at or above target run speeds while minimizing waste and downtime
- Obtain and review job tickets, paperboard caliper, quantities, special instructions, and case specifications
- Ensure make-readies are applied as quickly as possible
- Inspect folded score caliper, gluing, stacking, carton and score alignment, case fit, and overall machine condition
- Ensure the Leary glue and mix detection system functions correctly
- Complete required product and process audits
- Exchange information with prior and following shifts
- Identify product/process enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce downtime and spoilage
- Meet production schedule outputs and timeframes
- Lead the machine crew and oversee feeder packer activities
- Train new team members
- Attend team meetings
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Enforce compliance with company policies, including Safety and GMP
- Shut down the machine when left unattended
- Perform other assigned duties
- Report to the Finishing Lead, Shift Supervisor, and Finishing Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong mechanical aptitude
- General math skills
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and quality issues
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to stand/walk up to 12 hours per shift
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Visual color discrimination; ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team
- Must be able to differentiate colors
- Non-smoking/tobacco-free campus
