About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Adjust finishing equipment to process flat carton orders and oversee production
- Adjust glue machinery for the particular style of carton being processed
- Maintain machinery at optimum speed during production
- Detect malfunctions, determine causes, and make appropriate adjustments quickly
- Supervise gluer machinery crew members to ensure efficient and safe work
- Train feeder/catcher trainees as necessary
- Assume feeder/catcher duties during breaks, approximately 2 hours per day
- Perform maintenance on gluer machinery, including greasing, oiling, blowing off machinery, glue pot maintenance, bearing and belt replacement, and parts cleaning
- Maintain written and electronic SAP records of quality and production
- Perform hourly statistical measurements, including carton alignment, edge caliper, opening force, and glue length
- Make labels according to customer specifications
- Teach and help fellow operators troubleshoot problems
- Set up and operate specified glue, hot melt, label, window, and pick-and-place machinery
Requirements
What you’ll need- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Mechanical/technical aptitude
- Entry Level Computer skills
- Ability to set up and troubleshoot Leary, Mactron, Alpina and Pafra glue systems
- Ability to set up and run all Hot Melt units and troubleshoot as needed
- Ability to set up and run Labelaire machines per customer specifications
- Ability to set up and run the Alpina, Speed Queen, Domino, Window machine, and Pick and Place on the Domino
- Feeder/Catcher experience preferred
- Mechanical experience helpful, including automotive or small engine repair
- Finishing machine, Allen wrench, screwdriver and other related tools needed for make-ready
- SAP and PEAK systems knowledge
- Ability to work alternate schedules and overtime, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends
- Punctuality
- Must be able to speak, read and write English
- Working knowledge of finishing machines (gluer)
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to perform awkward and/or repetitive movements
- Routine lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle tools and maintain near and far visual acuity
- Ability to read computer screens or other electronic devices
- Ability to use various hand and electrical tools and equipment
- Must wear hearing protection in the Finishing area
- Must be willing and able to work overtime
