About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Adjust glue machinery to fit the particular style of carton being processed
- Oversee production of flat carton orders
- Maintain machinery at optimum speed during production
- Detect malfunctions, identify causes, and make appropriate adjustments quickly
- Supervise crew members working on gluer machinery and ensure efficient and safe work
- Train feeder/catcher trainees as necessary
- Perform feeder or catcher duties during breaks, approximately 2 hours per day
- Perform gluer machinery maintenance, including greasing, oiling, blowing off machinery, glue pot maintenance, bearing and belt replacement, and cleaning parts
- Maintain written and electronic SAP records of quality and production
- Perform hourly statistical measurements, including carton alignment, edge caliper, opening force, and glue length
- Make labels according to customer specifications
- Teach and assist fellow operators with troubleshooting
- Follow plant rules, processes, hygiene, and allergen procedures for Safe Quality Foods
- Report potentially unsafe food conditions, SQF noncompliance, and customer complaints
- Participate in SQF root cause and corrective actions as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Mechanical/technical aptitude
- Entry Level Computer skills
- Ability to set up and troubleshoot Leary, Mactron, Alpina and Pafra glue systems
- Ability to set up and run all Hot Melt units and troubleshoot as needed
- Ability to set up and run labelaire machines per customer specs
- Ability to set up and run the Alpina, Speed Queen, Domino, Window machine, and Pick and Place on the Domino
- Feeder/Catcher experience preferred
- Mechanical experience helpful, including automotive or small engine repair
- Ability to use finishing machine, Allen wrench, screwdriver and other related tools for make ready
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to work alternate schedules and overtime, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends
- Punctuality
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to perform awkward and/or repetitive movements
- Ability to routinely lift up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, and handle materials up to 50 lbs.
- Visual acuity for near and far distances
- Ability to read computer screens or other electronic devices
- Ability to use various hand and electrical tools and equipment
- Ability to work in heat up to 100 degrees, humidity, and production noise while wearing hearing protection
- Must be able to speak, read and write English
- Working knowledge of finishing machine (gluer)
