About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Make equipment adjustments in accordance with standard operating procedures
Clean equipment and facility
Perform designated tasks safely and efficiently
Maintain a safe work environment for self and other associates
Notify supervisor, maintenance, or quality immediately about equipment or paper problems
Maintain documentation of daily and monthly rounds according to SOPs
Document completed work on the “I” card and note problems or issues on the Counter Measure Sheet
Monitor and adjust equipment, including visual checks for crossed ropes, machine jams, and other malfunctions
Brush the PSI and knockdown showers per SOP
Assist the crew during paper breaks by threading paper
Operate a bobcat to clean up debris per SOP
Operate a forklift to retrieve supplies and remove paper debris from the floor
Retrieve and distribute supplies from Stores for the crew

Requirements

What you’ll need

Entry-level operator position in the Paper Mill
Knowledge of basic manufacturing practices and strong problem-solving skills
Commitment to safety and quality
Ability to communicate pertinent quality and production concerns to operators and prior/next shift
Basic mechanical ability to adjust equipment and maximize production and quality
Ability to work in a physically intense environment and lift up to 50 pounds
Excellent attendance record and flexibility to work rotating shifts and overtime
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing
Ability to use various hand and electrical tools and equipment
Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures, including high temperatures
Ability to substantially move wrists, hands, and/or fingers to turn valves and adjust equipment
Ability to climb ladders and work in high places
Cooperative working relationships and positive attitude toward fellow employees and supervision
Ability to perform duties independently with minimal direction and supervision
One of: 2 years of military experience; 2 years of heavy industrial experience; 2 years of industrial machine operator experience; 2 years of mechanical experience; 2 years of electrical experience; 2 years of safety-field experience; or 2 years of work experience and a two-year industrial technical qualification
Computer literacy
Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, alternate schedules, overtime, early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays; punctuality required
