About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical leadership, training, and guidance to Quality department team members
  • Tour the work area and ensure department operations run on schedule
  • Determine causes of machine downtime and coordinate appropriate follow-up
  • Advise team members during machine troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with maintenance team members to prioritize repairs
  • Perform department and daily audits
  • Troubleshoot equipment, material, and process issues
  • Gather team member feedback and follow accepted guidelines and proper settings
  • Analyze equipment wear and assist in determining necessary replacement parts
  • Fill out work orders and follow up on repair effectiveness
  • Assign team members to duties and machines using the production schedule
  • Collect production data, enter information into the computer system, complete reports, and passdowns
  • Participate in shift transition meetings, arriving 15 minutes before the shift and communicating issues to the incoming shift during the final 15 minutes
  • Serve as a Safety Leader by following safety policies, reporting unsafe conditions, coaching safe work practices, and recognizing safe behavior
  • Assist the shift manager with team member evaluations
  • Assist with scheduling and communicating voluntary or mandatory overtime
  • Assist with communicating and executing schedule changes
  • Serve as Backup Line Inspector as needed
  • Update specification files and create new files for new prints
  • Create labels using the computer and label equipment
  • Assist with training new team members and monitor training progress
  • Complete laser checks for rim diameter and rim thickness
  • Complete special testing and paper testing as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must successfully complete Level 1 – 4 assessments and recertify knowledge on an annual basis
  • Ability to move around the plant and stand for long periods
  • Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Outlook, preferred
  • Must monitor and respond to email while on shift
  • Ability to maintain and create data within the company database
  • Ability to work with close tolerances and precise measurements
  • Ability to read schedules and scales
  • Previous operator experience and experience in production extremely helpful
  • Must work 12-hour shifts, alternating 36- and 48-hour weeks
  • Must complete four 15-minute breaks and one 25-minute lunch during shifts
