About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and ensure efficient operation of the Shipping Department for two standalone plants and a third-party warehouse
  • Manage material handling processes including pulling, staging, shipping, receiving, and inventory control
  • Lead and supervise production work teams, including corrugate, roll stock, printing, finishing, warehouse, and CF lift drivers
  • Plan and oversee 35 to 40 outbound shipments daily
  • Supervise day-to-day team activities and provide training on SOPs, SAP transactional reporting, inventory control, and process controls
  • Conduct performance reviews, address personnel issues, and administer required discipline
  • Oversee shipment scheduling, material handling issues, equipment maintenance, and transactional problem resolution
  • Maintain communication between direct reports and middle and upper management
  • Promote safe work practices and implement safety procedures and departmental safety goals
  • Ensure product quality, production efficiency, productivity, and budget compliance
  • Develop and support continuous improvement programs to reduce shipment errors, improve on-time shipments, and increase order fill rates
  • Track, investigate, and report safety incidents and complaints
  • Support continuous improvement and development of Material Handling Team Members
  • Monitor handling efficiencies, downtime, incoming materials, inventory accuracy, on-time shipments, and material transfers between facilities
  • Verify SQF controls and meet SQF requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Production experience required
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing a multisite facility required
  • Supervisory and project management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5–8 years of practical experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge and experience in shipping and receiving, warehousing and inventory control
  • Some knowledge of transportation requirements
  • Knowledge and use of SAP preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills, organization, and ability to motivate people
  • Must be able to perform essential functions satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Follow plant rules, processes, hygiene, allergens, and SQF procedures
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions and customer complaints related to SQF
  • Participate in SQF root cause and corrective actions as required
