About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Adjust gluing machines to fit the particular style of carton being processed
  • Oversee production of flat carton orders
  • Maintain machinery at optimum speed during production
  • Detect malfunctions and make appropriate adjustments quickly
  • Ensure gluer machinery crew members work efficiently and safely
  • Train feeder/catcher trainees as necessary
  • Perform Feeder or Inspector duties during breaks, approximately 2 hours per day
  • Perform maintenance on gluer machinery, including greasing, oiling, blowing off machinery, glue pot maintenance, bearing and belt replacement, and cleaning parts
  • Maintain written and electronic (SAP) records of quality and production
  • Use Ignition software
  • Perform hourly statistical measurements, including carton alignment, edge caliper, opening force, and glue length
  • Make labels according to customer specifications
  • Teach and help fellow operators troubleshoot problems
  • Work schedules of up to 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1-2 years of machine operator experience required
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Entry-level computer skills
  • Ability to set up and troubleshoot Leary, Mactron, Alpina, and Pafra glue systems
  • Feeder/Inspector experience preferred
  • Mechanical experience is helpful (automotive, small engine repair, etc.)
  • Finishing machine, Allen wrench, screwdriver, and other related tools needed for make-ready
  • Experience with SAP, RF Gen, and Ignition systems
  • Ability to work alternate schedules and overtime, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends
  • Punctuality
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to perform awkward and/or repetitive movements
  • Routine lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasional team lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, and handle materials
  • Visual acuity for near and far distances
  • Ability to read computer screens or other electronic devices
  • Ability to use various hand and electrical tools and equipment
  • Ability to work in heat up to 100 degrees, humidity, and production noise; hearing protection required in the Finishing area
  • Working knowledge of finishing machine (gluer)
  • Mechanical aptitude
