About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Adjust gluing machines to process flat carton orders and oversee production
  • Adjust glue machinery for the particular style of carton being processed
  • Maintain machinery at optimum speed during production
  • Detect malfunctions, determine causes, and make appropriate adjustments quickly
  • Oversee gluer machinery crew members to ensure efficient and safe work
  • Train feeder/catcher trainees as necessary
  • Perform Feeder or Inspector duties during breaks, approximately 2 hours per day
  • Perform gluer machinery maintenance, including greasing, oiling, blowing off machinery, glue pot maintenance, bearing and belt replacement, and cleaning parts
  • Maintain written and electronic SAP records of quality and production
  • Use Ignition software
  • Conduct hourly statistical measurements, including carton alignment, edge caliper, opening force, and glue length
  • Make labels according to customer specifications
  • Teach and assist fellow operators with troubleshooting

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1-2 years of machine operator experience required
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Entry-level computer skills
  • Ability to set up and troubleshoot Leary, Mactron, Alpina, and Pafra glue systems
  • Feeder/Inspector experience preferred
  • Mechanical experience is helpful, including automotive or small engine repair
  • Knowledge of finishing machine, allen wrench, screwdriver, and other related tools needed for make-ready
  • Experience with SAP, RF Gen, and Ignition systems
  • Ability to work alternate schedules and overtime, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends
  • Punctuality
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to perform awkward and/or repetitive movements
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 20 lbs. and occasionally team lift up to 50 lbs.; lift, carry, push, pull, and reach up to 50 lbs.
  • Visual acuity and ability to read computer screens or other electronic devices
  • Ability to use various hand and electrical tools and equipment
  • Ability to work inside conditions with heat up to 100 degrees, humidity, and production noise; hearing protection required in the Finishing area
  • Tobacco-free campus; no tobacco usage of any kind allowed on the property
